PROMISE | NOVEMBER 22

 

GOD OF THE BLIND

 

Isa 42:16  And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

The month of November has indeed arrived in style bringing torrential rains and a tantalizing respite from the hot and humid climate, down in Chennai and many districts of Tamil Nadu.  Rains are good, but we only hope that there is no replay of Nov 21!

 Our good God, who has led us wonderfully, all through these 10 months, has made us land safely into a new month.  And, even as I write this, I know that not many of us have any clue whatsoever about how this month is going to be, or perhaps, how this year-end is going to be!  Literally, some have stepped into what is called a proverbial blind alley, even at the beginning of month. 

 

The eye-opener!

On that day, when Lord Jesus Christ opened the scrolls and read from the book of Isaiah, he affirmed that besides preaching gospel to the poor, healing the brokenhearted, declaring deliverance to captives and liberating the bruised, he was sent to open the eyes of the blind!  Yes, he was sent not just as deliverer, but as an eye-opener too!  Not just the physical eyes of multitude, but through his word, he opened the eyes of many a spiritually blind men too.

Leading or Losing?

Even before the advent  of Lord Jesus Christ, the Psalmist writes that God the father is very much in the business of opening the eyes of the blind (Psalms 146:8). All the blind men, when they come to him can never remain blindfolded.  But, can his own people, his own disciples, his children remain blind? How is that possible? Yes, this month’s story and saga is all about God not opening the eyes, but leading the blind! But, why would the Lord God who is able to make the blind see leave the blind, blind?

Light in the darkness

In this prophetic passage, we see that the Lord God, in his sovereign will, decides to lead the blind without opening their eyes. It might appear irrational, but that is God’s wisdom for you.  He not only knows how to open the eyes, he knows how to keep them shut also.   He knows when to bring them to light in the path of darkness. 

Jesus appeared to Saul who was on his way to Damascus, in a great pool of light.  This light made his eyes blind and he remained so for three days.  But that was the period when the Lord intervened with Ananias the priest to go and meet him in his house.  Even though Paul could not seel, God was working out something in the background.  Even in our life to bring us into the right way, to lead us into the right path, to make our darkness light, to make our crooked things straight, the Lord choses to keep us blind, clueless, and in dark; But he extends His hand. Hallelujah!

Just as he told the Israelites through Isaiah, prophetically, today he is speaking to you.  You may be wondering as to what is happening in your life?  You may be filled with many questions and cares about your tomorrows. How shall this be done? How shall I manage this? How shall I repay this? How shall I fend the expenses?  What will happen to this?  Right now, you have no idea on meeting the same.  You are just blind!   But to you the Lord promises, through this passage, a great deliverance. Continue to read and see how this story will unfolds in your life.

(a)         HE WILL BRING US INTO A NEW WAY  ( I will bring)

Isa_43:16  Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

Our Lord is a way-maker.  He is known for making ways where there is no way.  In the wilderness, over the waters he makes a new ways. God’s way appear where man’s ways end.  The way may appear to be strange, unchartered and even risky, but those are the ways in which the Lord would bring us, for our profit, for our blessing.  If our eyes are opened, we may exploring and choosing the best option like Lot did.  Therefore, he keeps us blind to bring us into a new way. Today, let us not get terrified because nothing is visible before your eyes, the hand of the Lord is extended towards you.  Just hold on to His hand!

(b)         HE WILL LEAD US IN NEW PATHS ( I will lead)

Psa_23:3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

A path is not a highway.  A path is also not a road where you see cars and bikes speeding.   Path speaks about walking.   People usually don’t ride, but they walk on the path.  It speaks of step by step guidance of the Lord.   First he brings us into a new way and then he leads us unto the right path.   You can only live one day at a time! You pray only for your daily bread!  Psalmist even prays, ‘Lord, hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not (Ps 17:5)’ The paths of the Lord are mercy and truth (Ps 25:10).  It is not an express high way to drive in your own pace, but it is a footpath that takes you safely and surely to your desiny!  Just keep walking with him!

(C) HE WILL COMMISSION LIGHT (I will make)

Isa_2:5  O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD

The people are not only blind, they are also in darkness.  And to a blind person, what difference would a light make?  His eyes are closed to see any light.   But still the Lord says that he will make the darkness light before them.  Light is nothing but the word of God.   Even to the blind, the word of God would be like a lamp unto their feet and light to their path.  Yes, the Lord leads them in his path by shedding his light from the Word of God.  The Word of God or Word from God alone would enlighten your hearts.  The progression of God’s light in our life is fascinating.  Jesus said, I am the light of the world.  Jesus is also called the World. He called his disciples, You are the light!  The Light of Word came on the people of God when they received, Lord Jesus Christ in their lives. Just stay focused on His light!

 (d)HE WILL MAKE THINGS STRAIGHT (I will correct)

Isa_45:2  I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

The Lord who brings the blind in ways unknown and leads them in paths uncharted and makes darkness light before them also does something very significant.  He makes the crooked things straight.  An iron or a metal rod, over a period of time, due to high pressure and pull may get twisted, turned, bent and shapeless  similarly, the bond between husband and wife, brothers and sisters, parents and children and even between an employer and employee or Pastor and believers may have gone sour, insipid and dull, thereby losing its essence.   We may have no idea or any clue as to how it can be set right?  But the Lord God who created this beautiful earth, which was once void and shapeless (Gen 1:1-3), is able to make all the crooked things straight in your life. Crooked health, crooked business, crooked children, crooked employment will all be made straight.

 (e)HE WILL NOT  FORSAKE YOU  (I will uphold)

Isa_41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

In Psalm 23, David calls the Lord as his shepherd and himself as lamb. A lamb lives its whole life - for provision, protection and procreation - depending  on its master.  It cannot do anything of its own.  It does not know the way.   It cannot   protect himself.  The shepherd has to guide, feed and lead it gently every step of the way.  About Jesus, the Bible says that he is the good shepherd who would go to the extent of even laying down his life for the sheep.   During this month and even in the months to come, he will uphold you with his right hand and will not leave you! His comforting presence will provide, protect and preserve you all through your life.

 Be Strengthened

Isa 35:3,4,5  Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.  Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.  Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 

 

Beloved in Christ, perhaps a prolonged period of blindness, uncertainty, darkness and waiting may have weakened your prayer life, robbed your praises and thanks-giving.  Today, let this word strengthen you to once again lift up your hands to praise and bend your knees to pray for the Lord who has lead you, even in your blindness, will come and save you. Then shall your eyes be opened to know the ways of the Lord and ears will be loosened to hear the voice of the Lord! Hallelujah!

வாக்குதத்த வார்த்தை| ஆகஸ்ட் 2022ஸ

 *வாக்குத்தத்தம் | ஆகஸ்ட் 2022*                                    

 இவரே நம் தேவன்!*

அக்காலத்திலே: இதோ, இவரே நம்முடைய தேவன்; இவருக்காகக் காத்திருந்தோம், இவர் நம்மை இரட்சிப்பார்; இவரே கர்த்தர், இவருக்காகக் காத்திருந்தோம்; இவருடைய ரட்சிப்பினால் களிகூர்ந்து மகிழுவோம் என்று சொல்லப்படும். (ஏசாயா 25:9)

அப்போஸ்தலன் பவுல், தன் நிருபங்களில், அடிக்கடியாக “தேவனை பற்றும் அறிவு” அல்லது “கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவை பற்றும் அறிவு” என்பவைகளை பற்றி பேசுகிறார். அவர் சொல்ல விரும்பும் ‘அறிவு’ எதனை பற்றியது?  இயேசுவே ஆண்டவர் என்று அறிந்துகொள்ளும் பொதுவான அறிவா? அல்லது அவர் நம்முடைய இரட்சகர் என்று அறிவிக்கும் மறையியல் அறிவா?  ஆனால், இவைகள் எல்லாம் கிறிஸ்தவரல்லாதோரும் அறிந்துவைத்திருக்கும் சில அடிப்படை தகவல்கள் தானே!

ஒருமுறை, அநேக நிருபங்களின் ஆக்கியோனான இவரே,  இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை அறியும் அறிவின் மேன்மைக்காக நான் எல்லாவற்றையும் நஷ்டம் என்று எண்ணுகிறேன் என்கிறார்.  (பிலிப்பி 3:8).  அதோடுகூட, தேவனை அறியும் அறிவில் வளரவேண்டும் என்று விசுவாசிகளை ஊக்கப்படுத்துகிறார்.    பற்பல உபத்திரவத்தை அவர் சந்தித்தாலும்,  எப்படி அவரால் மகிழ்ந்திருக்க முடிந்தது, எப்படி விசுவாசத்தை காக்க முடிந்தது? பவுல் சொல்லுகிறார், “நான் விசுவாசிக்கிறவர் இன்னார் என்று அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்”.  ஆம்,  கிறிஸ்துவை  பற்றும் அறிவு அல்லது தேவனை பற்றும் அறிவே நம்முடைய பெலன்.

குறைவு குறைவை ஏற்படுத்தும்

ஓசியா 4:6 என் ஜனங்கள் அறிவில்லாமையினால் சங்காரமாகிறார்கள்

இயல்பு உலகத்தில், அறிவானது புத்தகங்களை வாசிப்பதனாலும், கல்விக்கூடத்தில் சேர்வதனாலும், அல்லது ஒருவரால் பயிற்றுவிக்கப்படுவதாலும் பெறப்படுகிறது.  ஆவிக்குரிய அறிவோ புத்தகங்களின உதவியோடல்ல, தேவனோடுள்ள ஒரு நெருங்கிய உறவு அல்லது இணக்கமான நடையினால் உண்டாகிறது!  தேவனோடுகூட ஒரு நெருங்கிய உறவல்லாத எந்த இறையியலும், இடுக்கணில் உதவாது. வேதம் சொல்லுகிறது, தேவன் ஆவியாக இருக்கிறார். அவரை தொழுதிடுவோர் ஆவியோடும் உண்மையோடும் அவரை தொழுதிடவேண்டும்.   அதுமட்டுமல்ல, ஆவிக்குரிய ரியங்களை ஜென்மசுவாமுள்ள மனிதனால், ஆவியில் மறுஜென்ம அடையாத மனிதனால் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளமுடியாது. ஒரு மறுபிறப்படைந்த, ஆவியில் நிரம்பின, ஆவியில் நடத்தப்படும் நபரால் மட்டுமே தேவனுடைய அறிவின் ஆழத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கமுடியும்.  உங்களை சுற்றி, உங்களை வாழ்க்கையை சுற்றி நடக்கும் காரியங்கள் எதுவாக இருப்பினும்,  “ஏன் ஆண்டவரே இது” என்று கேட்கக்கூடாது. மாறாக “இவரே நம் தேவன்” என்று பரைசாற்றவேண்டும்.  உங்கள் தேவன் யார் என்கின்ற அறிவு உங்களுக்கு உண்டானால் மட்டுமே அது சாத்தியப்படும்.

அறிவு பிறப்பிக்கும் 

ஆதி 4:1 ஆதாம் தன் மனைவியாகிய ஏவாளை அறிந்தான்; அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி, காயீனைப் பெற்று, கர்த்தரால் ஒரு மனுஷனைப் பெற்றேன் என்றாள்

எந்த அறிவும் ஒரு பலனை பிறப்பிக்கும்.  ஆதாம் மற்றும் ஏவாளுக்கு இடையே காணப்பட்ட தாம்பத்திய உறவால் ஒரு புது ஜீவன், ஓர் புது வாழ்வு, ஒரு மகன்  பிறந்தான்.  ஆதாம் ஏவாளை அறிந்ததினால், அவர்களை போன்ற உருவ அமைப்பை கொண்ட ஒரு குழந்தை அவர்களுக்கு பிறந்தது.   கிறிஸ்துவை நாம் அறிவது, அதுபோன்றே, கிறிஸ்துவின் சுபாவத்தை நமக்குமள் பிறப்பிக்கவேண்டும் நாம் ஆவிக்குரிய கனிகளை கொடுக்கவேண்டும்! ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்து சந்தோஷம், சமாதானம் மற்றும் அன்பை நிறைவாக கொண்டவராக காணப்பட்டார்.  உங்கள் வாழ்க்கையும் அப்படிப்பட்ட கனிகளை பிறப்பிக்கவேண்டும்!

ஏசாயா 25: தேவனை பற்றிய ஒரு தீர்க்கத்தரிசன பாடல்

வரலாற்றுப்பூர்வமாக, இந்த வேதப்பகுதி பாபிலோனின் வீழ்ச்சி மற்றும் தேவன் கொண்டுவரும் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது.  ஆவிக்குரிய ரீதியில், அது நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கையில் தேவன் பாபிலோனிய சக்திகளை மேற்கொள்ளுவதை காண்பிக்கிறது –கள்ள மதப் பழக்கங்கள, பிசாசின் வஞ்சனை போன்றவைகள். தீர்க்கத்தரிசனமாக, இது உங்களுடைய வாழ்க்கையில் நடக்கும் காரியங்களை, குறிப்பாக பெலவீனருக்கு உதவி அவர்களுடைய வாழ்க்கையில் தேவமகிமையை வெளிப்படுத்தும் ஒரு சம்பவமாக அமையப்போகிறது.  நம்முடைய தியானம், இந்த நாளிலும், தீர்க்கதரிசன முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்ததும், வெளிப்பாடுகள் மிக்கதாகவும் அமைந்துள்ளது.   இந்நாளிலே நாம் நம்பிக்கையோடு ஒன்றை சொல்லவேண்டும் “இவரே கர்த்தர், இவருக்காகக் காத்திருந்தோம்; இவருடைய ரட்சிப்பினால் களிகூர்ந்து மகிழுவோம் என்று சொல்லப்படும். (ஏசாயா 25:9)

நாம் தேவனின் முப்பெரும் காரியங்களை, குணநலன்களை கவனிக்கவுள்ளோம்.  ஆம். இந்த பகுதியில், நமக்குண்டாகும் ஓர் அறிவு, எல்லாவித பயங்கள் மற்றும் கவலைகளிலிருந்து நம்மை விடுவித்திடும்.

அறிவு 1 

சூழலும் சாத்தியமும்: சத்துருக்குள் சிதறுண்டுபோவார்கள்!

                                                                                                                                                                                            ஏசா 25:2-5   : நீர் நகரத்தை மண்மேடும், அரணான பட்டணத்தைப் பாழுமாக்கினீர்; அந்நியரின் ராஜதானியை ஊராயிராதபடிக்கும், என்றைக்கும் கட்டப்படாதபடிக்கும் செய்தீர். ஆகையால் பலத்த ஜனங்கள் உம்மை மகிமைப்படுத்துவார்கள்; கொடூரமான ஜாதிகளின் நகரம் உமக்குப் பயப்படும். கொடூரமானவர்களின் சீறல் மதிலை மோதியடிக்கிற பெரு வெள்ளத்தைப்போல் இருக்கையில், நீர் ஏழைக்குப் பெலனும், நெருக்கப்படுகிற எளியவனுக்குத் திடனும் பெருவெள்ளத்துக்குத் தப்பும் அடைக்கலமும், வெயிலுக்கு ஒதுங்கும் நிழலுமானீர்

                                                                                                                                                                                     பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு நாட்களில், இஸ்ரவேல் தேசம் எப்போதும் எதிரி நாடுகளால் தாக்கப்பட்டுவந்தது.  பல  தோல்விகளை சந்தித்த இத்தேசம், பெர்சியர், அசிரீயர் மற்றும் பாபிலோனியர்களால் சிறைபிடிக்கவும் பட்டது.  அவர்கள் யுத்தத்தில் பெரிய வெற்றிகளையும் கண்டார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்களுடைய பெலத்தில் பெறவில்லை, அவர்களுடைய யுத்தத்தை வழிநடத்தி அவர்களுடைய சத்துருக்களை அழித்துப்போட்ட அவர்களுடைய அதரிசனமான தளபதியாகிய கர்த்தரின் அசாத்திய பெலன் அது.  இன்றும், ஒரு ஆவிக்குரிய கிறிஸ்தவனுக்கு, எதிராளி ஒரு தேசமோ அல்லது தனிநபரோவன்று. அவன் பிசாசு ஒருவனே.  , 

எப்படி இஸ்ரவேல் தன் எதிராளிகளின் நிமித்தம் பாடுபட்டதோ, நாமும் நம் வாழ்க்கையில் சித்திரவதை, அங்கலாய்ப்பு மற்றும் அழுத்தத்தை உணர்கிறோம்!  நீங்கள் முழங்காலில் நின்று அவரை நோக்கி கூப்பிடுகையில், அவரை நீங்கள் நம்புகையில், அவரோடு நிற்கையில் கர்த்தர் இன்றும் உங்கள் யுத்தத்தை செய்கிறார்.  மெய்யாகவே, உங்கள் எதிராளியாகிய பிசாசு, நீங்கள் சர்வாயுத வர்க்கத்தை தரித்திருக்க  உங்களுக்கு எதிராக நிற்கமாட்டான்!  ஆமென்!

நீங்கள் இந்த யுத்தத்தில், போரட்டத்தில், சிக்கலில் தனியே இல்லை என்பதை  அறிந்துகொள்ளவும்! 

அறிவு  2

குறைவும் காப்புறுதியும்: சிறுமையானவன் உதவிபெறுகிறான்!

ஏசா 25:4 கொடூரமானவர்களின் சீறல் மதிலை மோதியடிக்கிற பெரு வெள்ளத்தைப்போல் இருக்கையில், நீர் ஏழைக்குப் பெலனும், நெருக்கப்படுகிற எளியவனுக்குத் திடனும் பெருவெள்ளத்துக்குத் தப்பும் அடைக்கலமும், வெயிலுக்கு ஒதுங்கும் நிழலுமானீர்

பூகோள ரீதியில் இஸ்ரவேல் ஒரு சிறிய நாடு.  ஆனாலும், கர்த்தர் அதனை தனக்காக தெரிந்துகொண்டார். தேவன் அவர்களை தம்முடைய சொந்த மக்களாகவே பாவித்தார். அவர் கொடிய எகிப்தை, வலிய அசீரியாவை அல்லது பெலமுள்ள பெர்சியாவை தம் சுதந்தரமாக தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமல் இந்த குட்டி நாட்டை தன் கண்மணியாக காத்தார்.  அவர் பெலவீனரை தெரிந்துகொண்டு  மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்! அதுபோலவே, உங்கள் குடும்பத்தில் உங்களை எல்லாரும் பெலவீனர், ஏழை, ஆதரவற்றோர், புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டோர், நிராகரிக்கப்போடார் என்று எண்ணலாம். ஒருவேளை மற்றவர்களிடம் காணப்படும் ஏதோ ஒன்று உங்களிடம் இல்லாதுபோகலாம்.  ஆனாலும், திடன்கொள்ளுங்கள், தேவன் பெலவீனர், முக்கியமில்லாதோர், மதிக்கப்படாதோருக்கு தம்மை சமீபமாக்குகிறார். அவர் திக்கற்றவர்களின் தகப்பன், உங்கள் பிரச்சனைகளில் அவரே அனுகூல துணை.  இதுவே தேவனுடைய மாறாத் தன்மையின் அடையாளம். உலகமானது ஏழை மற்றும் வசதிகுறைவுள்ளோரை வித்தியாசமாக பார்க்கலாம். ஆனால் தேவனோ பெலவீனரின் கூடுகையில் சந்தோஷம் காண்கிறார்.  இயேசு ஒரு அரண்மனையில் பிறக்கவில்லை, ஒரு முன்னணையில் கிடத்தப்பட்டார்.  அவருடைய பிறப்பின் செய்தி முதலில் இராஜாக்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்படவில்லை, ஏழைஎளிய மேய்ப்பர்களுக்கே சொல்லப்பட்டது. மெய்யாகவே, கர்த்தராகிய தேவன் உங்கள் விண்ணப்பங்களுக்கு எல்லாம் கவனமாக செவிகொடுக்கிறார் என்பதால் உங்கள் வழக்கை அவர் விசாரித்து அவரே உங்களை உயர்த்துவார். 

உன் தேவன் ஒரு பெலத்த துருகம் என்றும் பணக்காரர் மற்றும் வசதியானவர்களை காட்டிலும்,  உதவியற்றோருக்கு துணை நிற்கும் ஆதர்வு மற்றும் இரட்சகருமானவர்! 

அறிவு 3

கர்த்தரின் மேன்மையும் மகிமையும்:  சர்வவல்லவரின் மகிமையின் வெளிப்பாடு!

ஏசா 25:6  சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் இந்த மலையிலே சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் ஒரு விருந்தை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துவார்; அது கொழுமையான பதார்த்தங்களும், பழமையான திராட்சரசமும், ஊனும் நிணமுமுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களும், தெளிந்த பழமையான திராட்சரசமும் நிறைந்த விருந்தாயிருக்கும்

மலை அல்லது பர்வதம், வேதாகமத்தில், பொதுவாக தேவன் மனிதனை சந்திக்கும் இடமாகவே அறியப்படுகிறது.  மொரியா மலையில் ஆபிரகாம் தேவனை நேரில் சந்தித்தார்.  சீனாய் மலையில் தேவனோடுகூட ஒரு  மறக்கமுடியா சந்திப்பு மோசேக்கு ஏற்பட்டது.  இயேசுவின் சீடர்கள் பேதுரு மற்றும் யோவான் தங்கள் போதகர்  ஒரு மலையில் மறுருபமான காட்சி தனை கண்டார்கள்.   இயேசுவை சந்தித்த சமாரிய பெண்,  தேவனை மலையில் தொழுதுகொள்வதை பற்றி வினாவினாள்.   மலை தேவன் மனிதனை சந்திக்கும் இடம்.  அது ஒரு ஆராதனை ஸ்தலம், கூடிவரும் இடம், தேவனுடைய சமூகத்தை உணரும் இடம்.  எங்கே இரண்டு அல்லது மூன்று பேர் என் நாமத்தில் கூடிவருகிறார்களோ அங்கே நான் இருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.  ஜெப அறை ஒரு மலை.  பரிசுத்தவாங்களின் கூடுகை ஒரு மலை. ஜெப ஐக்கியம் ஒரு மலை.  அந்த பர்வதத்திலே தானே  இயேசுவானவர் தம் மகிமையை, வல்லமையை, சமூகத்தை  வெளிப்படுத்துவார். அவருடைய வார்த்தை உங்கள் விருந்தாகட்டும்! இன்றும் நாம் அவருடைய மலையில் ஏறுவோம். 

அவருடைய மலையில் நாம் பெறும் காரியங்கள் 

1) அவருடைய வார்த்தையின் செழிப்பு

2) ஆவிக்குரிய மனிதன் உயிர்பிக்கப்படுதல்

3) அவருடைய மகிமையின் வெளிப்பாடு 

4) ஆத்துமாவுக்கு இளைப்பாறுதல்   

தனிநபர், குடும்பம் மற்றும் கூட்டுப் பிரார்த்தனை நேரம் அவருடைய மகிமையை, அவருடைய இரக்கத்தை, அவருடைய கிருபையை, அவருடைய தயவை உங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் வெளிப்படுத்தும்.

அறிவு விடுதலையாக்கும்

சத்தியத்தையும் அறிவீர்கள், சத்தியம் உங்களை விடுதலையாக்கும் என்றார்.(யோவான் 8:32)

இப்புதிய மாதத்திலும், சத்துருக்கள் அவர் முன் சிதறுண்டு போகிறார்கள், சிறுமையானவர்களுக்கு அவர் உதவிசெய்கிறார்,  சர்வவல்லவரின் மகிமை அவருடைய மலையில்-சமூகத்தில்-காணப்படும் என்பதை மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கையுடன் அறிக்கைசெய்து இவரே நம் தேவன், இவர் நம்மை இரட்சிப்பார் என்று சொல்லி தைரியத்துடன் அறிக்கைசெய்திடுவோம்.

கர்த்தாவே, நீரே என் தேவன்; உம்மை உயர்த்தி, உமது நாமத்தைத் துதிப்பேன்; நீர் அதிசயமானவைகளைச் செய்தீர்; உமது ஆலோசனைகள் சத்தியமும் உறுதியுமானவைகள். (ஏசா 25:1)

 வாக்குத்தத்த வார்த்தை | ஜூன் 2022 | இயேசுவின் சந்தோஷம்

இதுவரைக்கும் நீங்கள் என் நாமத்தினாலே ஒன்றும் கேட்கவில்லை; கேளுங்கள்,  அப்பொழுது உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாயிருக்கும்படி பெற்றுக்கொள்வீர்கள்.  (யோவான் 16:24)

ஆண்டவரும் இரட்சகருமாகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் நாமத்தில் அன்பின் வாழ்த்துக்கள்,

கிட்டத்தட்ட இரண்டுவருட இடைவெளிக்கு பின், ஜூன் மாதம் மறுபடியும் ஒரு   புதிய கல்வியாண்டின் துவக்கமாக நம்முடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு அமையப் போகிறது. கோவிட்-19 ஏற்படுத்தின தாக்கத்தால், இந்த ஆண்டின் பள்ளி இறுதி தேர்வு ஒரு அசாதாரண் சூழலில் கோடை விடுமுறையில் நடத்தப்பட்டது. சில பள்ளிகள் குறுகியகால கோடைவிடுமுறையை அளித்திருந்தாலும், பல  விரைவில் திறக்க ஆயத்தப்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.  அடுத்த ஒரு சில நாட்கள் பிள்ளைகள் தங்கள் நேரத்தை குதூகலத்துடன் கொண்டாடி மகிழப்போகிறார்கள் என்பதில் எந்த சந்தேகமுமில்லை.  ஆனால் பெற்றோருக்கோ கல்விக் கட்டணமும், ஏனைய செலவீனங்களும் தொண்டையை நெறிக்கக்கூடியதாக அமையப்போகிறது.  குழந்தைகளுக்கு குஷி, பெற்றோருக்கு கிலி!

நீங்களும் உங்கள் குடும்பத்தினரும், இந்த கோடைகாலத்தில், எப்படிப்பட்ட பாதையின் ஊடே சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தாலும், இம்மாதத்திற்கான உங்களுடைய வாக்குத்தத்த வார்த்தை “உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாக கேளுங்கள்”.  அல்லேலூயா!  அவ்வசனத்தை இன்னொரு ஆங்கில மொழிப்பெயர்ப்பு இப்படியாக சொல்லுகிறது, “உங்கள் இருதயங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியினால் நிரம்பியிருக்க கேளுங்கள்”. இயேசுவானவர் சந்தோஷத்தை அருளுவதற்கல்ல, தம்முடைய சந்தோஷத்தை தருவதற்கே நம்மை அழைக்கிறார்.  இயேசுவானவர் “சொற்ப” சந்தோஷத்தை அருளுவதற்கல்ல, “நிறைவான” மகிழ்ச்சியை தருவதற்கே அழைக்கிறார்.  “உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாக இருக்கவேண்டும்” என்பதன் அர்த்தம் என்ன?

மகிழ்ச்சியை பற்றி கருத்துள்ளவர்

மகிழ்ச்சிக்கான கிரேக்க பதம் சாரா. அதன் பொருள் உற்சாகம், உற்சாகமிகுதி, சந்தோஷம், மகிழ்ச்சி.

4 சுவிசேஷ நூல்களிலும், சந்தோஷம் என்ற பொருள்படும் JOY என்ற வார்த்தை 24 தடவை வருகிறது. இயேசுவானவர் சந்தோஷத்தை குறித்து உண்மையில் கருத்துள்ளவராகவே இருந்தார். சமாதானத்தை தவிர்த்து, நான் நினைக்கிறேன், சந்தோஷம் என்ற பதத்தை அவர் குறிப்பிடும்போதே அவர் “என் சந்தோஷம்” என்றார்.  இயேசு சொன்னார், “என்னுடைய சந்தோஷம் உங்களில் நிலைத்திருக்கும்படிக்கும், உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாயிருக்கும்படிக்கும், இவைகளை உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன்”. இந்த சந்தோஷத்தை உங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் கண்டடைவது எப்படி? இது எவ்விதத்தில் உங்களில் பூரண்மாகும்?  நாம் நம்முடைய சந்தோஷத்தை மட்டுமே அனுபவிக்கிறோமா அல்லது கர்த்தருடைய சந்தோஷத்தை அனுபவிக்கின்றோமா? சமாதானம் மற்றும் சந்தோஷத்தின் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள் மட்டுமே நாம் அனுபவிக்கமுடியும்.

இம்மையும் மறுமையும்

 

நாம் வாழும் இவ்வுலகில், கேளிக்கை மற்றும் குதூகுலத்திற்காக மக்கள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் செலவுசெய்கிறார்கள்.  அதிகரிக்கும் அழுத்தங்கள், வலிகள் மற்றும் பிரச்சனைகளின் விளைவாக மக்களால் மகிழ்ச்சியை அனுபவிக்கமுடியவில்லை என்பது உண்மையில் ஒரு கசப்பான உண்மை.  அவர்கள் நகைச்சுவை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மற்றும் மதுமான விருந்துகளில் தங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியை தேடுகிறார்கள்.  ஆனால், அந்த சந்தோஷம் சற்று நேரம் மட்டுமே தங்குகிறது.  அவர்கள் உயர பறந்து தாழ விழுகிறார்கள்!  நல்ல சம்பவங்கள் நடக்கும்போது அவர்கள் குதுகலிக்கிறார்கள், கேடுபாடு நேரிடும்போது அவர்கள் குழம்பிப்போகிறார்கள்.  பிரசங்கியார் எழுதுகிறார், “அழ ஒரு காலமுண்டு, நகைக்க ஒரு காலமுண்டு; புலம்ப ஒரு காலமுண்டு, நடனம்பண்ண ஒரு காலமுண்டு;” (பிரச 3:4)” ஆனால் இயேசுவோ “பரிபூரண சந்தோஷத்தை குறித்து பேசுகிறார். நீங்காத சந்தோஷம்!  நாம் எல்லாரும் கஷ்ட நஷ்டர்ங்கள், போராட்டங்கள், பாடுகள் மற்றும் பிர்ச்சனைகளை சந்திக்காமல் இல்லை. அப்படியானால் நாம் எப்படி அதிலும் சந்தோஷமாய், உற்சாகமாய் இருக்கமுடியும்? வேதம் சொல்லுகிறது, இயேசு தாமே தம் ஆவியில் கலங்கினார் என்று, லாசருவின் மரணத்தை கண்டு கண்ணீர்விட்டார் என்று! அப்படியானால் இயேசுவின் சந்தோஷம் என்பது எது?

 நான் உங்களுக்கு சொல்லுகிறேன்!

 இயேசு கிறிஸ்து, பல இடங்களில், பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு வேதவசனங்களின் மெய்யான அர்த்தத்தை, பொருள் விளக்கத்தை சரியாக எடுத்து சொன்னதுமட்டுமல்ல,  அதனை எப்படி புரிந்துகொண்டு பின்பற்றவேண்டும் என்றும் அவர்களுக்கு உணர்த்தினார்.  தேவனுடைய நியாப்பிரமணங்களை எல்லாம் அவர ஒரு வரியில் சுருக்கிக் கூறினார். இன்றும், சந்தோஷத்தை பற்றி, இயேசு குறிப்பிட்ட மூன்று சிறப்பான சூழ்நிலைகளை கவனித்து, நாம் வாழ்க்கையில் நாம் பற்றிக்கொள்ளவேண்டிய மூன்று வித்தியாசமான சந்தோஷங்களை பற்றி படிக்கப்போகிறோம்.  

 

(1)   மேலான சந்தோஷம் (நம்முடையதல்ல, பிறருடையது) (லூக்கா 15)

 

அதுபோல மனந்திரும்புகிற ஒரே பாவியினிமித்தம் தேவனுடைய தூதருக்கு முன்பாகச் சந்தோஷமுண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார் (லூக்கா 15:10)

 இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் நாட்களில் வாழ்ந்த மதவாதிகள் பாவிகளுடன் அவர் பேசுவதை, போஜனம்பண்ணுவதை ஏற்கமுடியாமல் முறுமுறுத்தார்கள்.  இயேசு மூன்று உவமானங்களை சொல்லி அவர்களுக்கு பதிலுரைத்தார்.  தொலைந்துபோன ஆடு, தொலைந்துபோன நாணயம் மற்றும் தொலைந்துபோன குமாரன்.  இந்த எல்லா கதைகளிலும் பிதாவாகிய தேவனுடைய இருதயம் எப்போதும் பாவிகளை இரட்சிக்கவே பின்தொடருகிறது என்றார்.  இயேசு தாமே, பாவிகளை இரட்சிக்கவே நான் வந்தேன் என்கிறார்.  பரலோகத்தை பற்றிய எந்த ஒரு பார்வையும் இல்லாத மதவாதிகளை பார்த்து, இரட்சிக்கப்படும் ஒரு பாவியின் நிமித்தம் பரலோகம் ஆனந்த சந்தோஷமடைகிறது என்று சொன்னார். தூதர்களின் கொண்டாடும் காட்சியை இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு காண்பித்தார்.  நாம் எல்லாரும் பரலோகம் செல்ல விழைகிறோம், பரலோகத்தை பற்றி பிரசங்கிக்கிறோம், பரலோகத்தில் செய்யப்படுவதுபோல் பூமியில் செய்யப்படவேண்டும் என்று  ஜெபிக்கிறோம். அப்ப்டியானால், நம்முடைய சந்தோஷத்தை நாடுவதற்கான வழியை தேடாமல், பரலோக சந்தோஷத்திற்காய் நாம் பாடுபடவேண்டும்.  நம்முடைய நோக்கம் இழந்துபோன ஆத்துமாக்களாக இருக்குமென்றால், கர்த்தர் மெய்யாகவே நம்முடைய இருதயங்களை பரலோகத்தின் சந்தோஷத்தினால், அல்லது மேலான சந்தோஷத்தால் நிரப்புவார்.

 (2)     அசாதாரண சந்தோஷம் (பாதுகாப்பில் அல்ல, பாடுகளில்) (Luke 6)

மனுஷகுமாரன் நிமித்தமாக ஜனங்கள் உங்களைப் பகைத்து, உங்களைப் புறம்பாக்கி, உங்களை நிந்தித்து, உங்கள் நாமத்தைப் பொல்லாததென்று தள்ளிவிடும்போது நீங்கள் பாக்கியவான்களாயிருப்பீர்கள். அந்நாளிலே நீங்கள் சந்தோஷப்பட்டுக் களிகூருங்கள்; பரலோகத்தில் உங்கள் பலன் மிகுதியாயிருக்கும்; அவர்களுடைய பிதாக்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்கும் அப்படியே செய்தார்கள்.(லூக்கா 6:22-23)

 

தன்னுடைய மலைப் பிரசங்கத்தில் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து “பாக்கிய வசனங்கள்" என்று சொல்லப்படும் மகிழ்ச்சியான கிறிஸ்தவ வாழ்க்கைக்கு தேவையான அடிப்படை குணநலன்களை பட்டியலிட்டார்.   அவர் சொல்கிறார்,  நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின் நிமித்தம் பகைக்கப்பட்டு, புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டு, நிந்திக்கப்பட்டு அவமானப்படுத்தப்படுவமானால், நாம் மகிழவேண்டுமே ஒழிய, அழக்கூடாது என்று இயேசு சொல்லுகிறார்.  சொல்லபோனால், நாம் மகிழ்ந்து குதிக்கவேண்டும் என்று குறிப்பிடுகிறார்! ஒருவேளை இது வினோதமான ஒன்றாக தோன்றலாம்.  ஆனால் இது கர்த்தருடைய பரிந்துரை.   மக்கள் நம்மை காயப்படுத்தலாம், தவறாக நடத்தலாம், மோசமாக நடத்தலாம், நிந்திக்கலாம், ஏன் கிறிஸ்துவின் நிமித்தம் நம்மை வெறுக்கவும் செய்யலாம்.  ஆனால் அவைகளை சந்தோஷத்துடன் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வதற்கான ஒரு மனநிலையை வளர்த்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்.  இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் சகோதரனும், அப்போஸ்தலனுமாகிய யாக்கோபு தன்னுடைய நிருபத்தில் "என் சகோதரரே பலவிதமான சோதனகளில் அகபபடும்போது அதை சந்தோஷம் என்று எண்ணுங்கள்” என்று சொல்லி நம்மை ஊக்கப்படுத்துகிறார். தேவ கிருபையே அன்றி இது சாத்தியப்படாது. ஆனால் நாம் அதை கேட்கவேண்டும்? நம்முடைய பிரதிபலிக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சி நாம் எதை சந்திக்கிறோமோ அதன் அடிப்படையில்  உண்டாவதன்று.  ஒவ்வொரு அடியும், ஒவ்வொரு அவமானமும், ஒவ்வொரு பாடும் பரலோகத்தில் முழு பெலனை கொண்டுவரும் என்ற அறிவில் உண்டாகவேண்டும். அல்லேலூயா! பரலோக பலன் நம்முடைய நோக்கமாக இருந்தால், நம்முடைய உள்ளங்களை அவர் மெய்யாகவே  அசாதாரண சந்தோஷத்தினால் நிரப்புவார்.

 

(3)   நித்திய சந்தோஷம் (பூமியில் அல்ல, பரலோகத்தில்) (மத் 25)

 அவனுடைய எஜமான் அவனை நோக்கி: நல்லது, உத்தமமும் உண்மையுமுள்ள ஊழியக்காரனே, கொஞ்சத்திலே உண்மையாயிருந்தாய், அநேகத்தின் மேல் உன்னை அதிகாரியாக வைப்பேன்; உன் எஜமானுடைய சந்தோஷத்திற்குள் பிரவேசி என்றான்.(மத்தேயு 25:23)

 

இது ஆண்டவர் இயேசு பேசின இராஜ்ஜியத்தின் உவமைகளில் ஒன்று.  அது மூன்று வேலைக்காரர்களை பற்றியது.  தங்களுக்கு ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்ட தாலந்துகளில் இரண்டு பேர் உண்மையுள்ளவர்களாக இருந்தனர், ஒருவன் மட்டும் சோம்பேறியாகவும் சந்தேகப்பிராணியாகவும் இருந்தான்.  எஜமானுக்கு உபயோகமாக இருந்தவர்கள், மேலான காரியங்களுக்கு அதிபதிகள் ஆக்கப்பட்டனர்.  அசட்டையாக இருந்தவன் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டான்.  ஒவ்வொரு தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைக்கும், அது விசுவாசியானாலும் சரி, ஊழியரானாலும் சரி, அது தனித்துவமான ஒரு வார்த்தை, தாலந்தை தேவன் கொடுத்துள்ளார் என்பது நாம் மறுக்கமுடியாத உண்மை.  தன் வேலைக்காரர்கள் உண்மையுள்ளவர்களாக மட்டுமல்ல, பயனுள்ளவர்களாகவும் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்று எஜமான் விரும்பினார். “நீங்கள் என்னிலும் நான் உங்களிலும் நிலைத்திருந்தால் மிகுந்த கனிகளை கொடுப்பீர்கள்” என்று சொன்னார்.  தனக்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்ட நேரம், தாலந்து, உபகரணங்கள் மற்றும் திறமைகளை வீணடிக்காமல் தேவனுடைய இராஜ்ஜியத்திற்கு மிகுந்த பலனை/லாபத்தை கொடுக்கும் ஒரு வேலைக்காரன், ஒரு தேவஊழியன் கர்த்தருடைய சந்தோஷத்திற்குள்ளாக பிரவேசிக்கும் பாக்கியத்தை பெறுகிறான். ஒருவிதத்தில் இது ஒரு தெய்வீக சமாதானம், இளைப்பாறுதல் மற்றும் ஒரு நித்திய மகிழ்ச்சிக்குள்ளாக பிரவேசிப்பதை குறிப்பிட்டாலும், இன்னொரு விதத்தில், மிகச் சாதாரண அளவில், கர்த்தருடைய சந்தோஷத்தை அனுபவிக்கும் ஒரு வாழ்க்கையாகவும் இதனை நாம் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளலாம். அல்லேலூயா! நம்முடைய பிரயாசம் எப்போதும் கர்த்தருக்கு உழைப்பதும் மற்றும் அவருக்கு கனிக்கொடுப்பதாக மட்டுமே இருந்தால்,  கர்த்தர் மெய்யாகவே நம்முடைய இருதயங்களை நித்திய மகிழ்ச்சியினால் நிரப்புவார்.

 

இராஜ்ஜியத்தின் சந்தோஷம்

 

தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யம் புசிப்பும் குடிப்புமல்ல, அது நீதியும் சமாதானமும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலுண்டாகும் சந்தோஷமுமாயிருக்கிறது (ரோமர் 14:17)

 

சந்தோஷம் என்பது நாம் தேவனிடமிருந்து பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும் வரம் மட்டுமல்ல. சந்தோஷம் தேவனுடைய இராஜ்ஜியத்தின் ஒரு பகுதி.  இரட்சிப்பின் ஈவை பெற்று தன்னை தேவ இராஜ்ஜியத்தின் அங்கத்தினராக கருதும் எந்த ஒருவனும் இந்த சந்தோஷத்தை அனுபவிப்பான். இந்த உலகம் கொடுக்கும் சந்தோஷம் சம்பவங்களை சார்ந்தது. அது எப்போதும் தற்காலிகமானது.  ஆனால் பரிசுத்த ஆவியின் சந்தோஷம் என்பது நம்மோடுகூட எப்போதும் இருக்கும் சந்தோஷம்.  இந்த சந்தோஷம் நமக்குள் இருந்தால், எந்த ஒரு மனப்பதட்டமும், மன அழுத்தமும், எந்த தோல்வியும், எந்த காயமும், எந்த கலக்கமும், எந்த நஷ்டமும் நம்மை பாதிக்காது.   நாம் அசைக்கப்படுவதில்லை!

 

ஆனாலும் அனேகர், 10, 20 மற்றும் 30 ஆண்டுகால விசுவாசிகளாக இருந்தும்,   அவருடைய வார்த்தையை பின்பற்றி ஆவியானவருடன் ஐக்கியத்தை பாராட்ட முடியாமல் சந்தோஷம் காணாமல் தடுமாறுகிறார்கள்.

 

தம்முடைய சொந்த சந்தோஷத்தை இயேசுவால் கொடுக்க முடிந்ததற்கான காரணம் என்னவென்றால், அவருக்குள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாகவும், அளவற்றதாகவும் இருந்தது. அவர் பிதாவாகிய தேவனோடு நெருங்கி உறவாடினார், அவர் பிரமாணங்களில் உறுதியாக நின்றார், அவர் பரிசுத்த ஆவியில்  நிறைந்தவராக இருந்தார்.

 

ஆகையால், கர்த்தருடைய சந்தோஷம் என்பது ஒரு அடையாளமட்டுமன்று, நாம் அவருக்குள் இருக்கிறோம், அவர் நம்மில் இருக்கிறார் என்பதற்கான ஒரு சந்தேமில்லா ஆதாரம்.

 

சந்தோஷத்தின் பயணம்

 

எபி 12:2 அவர் தமக்குமுன் வைத்திருந்த சந்தோஷத்தின்பொருட்டு, அவமானத்தை எண்ணாமல், சிலுவையைச் சகித்து, தேவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின் வலதுபாரிசத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிறார்.

 

தமது சந்தோஷத்தின் நிறைவினை தம்முடைய சீடர்களுக்கு, தம் மக்களுக்கு தருவேன் என்று வாக்குரைத்த இயேசு, சிலுவைக்கு அப்பால் உள்ள சந்தோஷத்தை அவர் எதிர்நோக்கினார். பரலோக மகிழ்ச்சியை அனுபவிக்க அவர் நிந்தையை பொறுத்துக்கொண்டார்.

நம்முடைய சொந்த வாழ்க்கையிலும், பரலோக சந்தோஷம் அல்லது இயேசுவின் சந்தோஷமானது நாம் ஒரு சகிப்புத்தன்மையின் ஆவியை வளர்த்துக்கொண்டாலே ஒழிய வராது.  நாம் பரலோக சந்தோஷத்தை அனுபவிப்பது மட்டுமல்ல, தேவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தில் இருக்கும் சந்தோஷத்தையும் நாம் அனுபவிப்போம்.

கர்த்தராகிய தேவன் தாமே உங்களை மேலான சந்தோஷத்தினால், அசாதாரண சந்தோஷத்தினால், நித்திய சந்தோஷத்தினால் நிரப்புவாராக.

 கர்த்தர் உங்களை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக!

Joh 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Loving Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,

Perhaps, after a gap of two years, the month of June is once again going to mark the beginning of a new academic year for children.  Due to Covid-19 and its aftermath, the School final exams, this year, were unusually, during summer vacation.  While some schools have declared a brief vacation, there are others planning to resume in a fortnight or so.  The next few days are going to be a time of fun and frolic for kids. For parents, however, it is going to be feverish with fees and financial commitments, topping the list.  Joy to the children, jinx to the parents, if I may say so.

Regardless of what you and your family might be going through this summer, the Promise Word for the month is “Ask, so that your joy could be full”.  Hallelujah!  BBE translation says, Ask so that your hearts may be full of joy. Jesus longs to give not just joy, but ‘His’ joy. Jesus wants to give not ‘some’ joy,  but “full” joy.   What did Jesus mean when he said, “Your joy be full”?

Serious about Joy

The Greek term for Joy is Chara (spelt as Khar-ah).  It means cheer, cheerfulness, gladness and exceeding joy, joyful, joyous.

 In all the 4 Gospel accounts, this word JOY comes at least 24 times. Out of which, it is uttered 15 times (62%) by Jesus himself. Jesus was really serious about joy.  Besides peace, I think, joy is the only thing Jesus said as belonging to ‘Him’.  Jesus said “Let my joy remain in you and that your joy may be full”.   How can this joy be found in your life, how is this made perfect?  Are we experiencing our own joy,  or Joy of the Lord? Fullness of Peace or Joy can be experienced ONLY in Christ!

Temporal or Timeless

 In the world in which we are living, people shell out large sums to get entertained and even experience joy.  It is really sad to see that people could not experience joy by themselves due to the mounting pressures, pains and problems. They look for joy in comedy shows and liquor parties.  Alas, but it lasts only an awhile. They go to an high and then they fall from top!  They are in ecstasy when good things takes place, they rue when misfortune strikes.   The Preacher writes, “there is a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance” (Ecc 3:4).  But Jesus speaks of abundant joy.  A joy that cant’ be taken away!  It is true that we all face hardships, struggles, pains and privations in our life.  How we can still be joyous, cheerful during those times?  The Bible says, Jesus himself was troubled in his spirit and wept over the death of Lazarus!

What is then this Joy of Jesus?

I tell you!

Jesus Christ, in many places, not only expounded the meaning of scriptures, he showed them a better  way to understand  and to follow.  He abridged the commandments of God in one simple statement.  Today, we are going to look at three occasions, where Jesus spoke about Joy to  discover three types of Joy that we should know and pursue in our lives.   

(1)Excellent Joy  (Not ours, but others) (Luke 15)

Luk_15:10  Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

When the religious sect of Jesus’ time murmured his camaraderie with sinners, Jesus responded by speaking three parables.   The Parable of the lost Sheep, the lost Coin and the lost Son.  In all stories Jesus was explaining to them that the heart of the Father God is ever after lost sinners.   Jesus himself said that he came only to save the sinners. To the dogmatics, who had no revelation about heaven’s perspective, Jesus said there is great joy in heaven over a sinner who is saved.   Jesus was showing to them a picture of angelic celebration. We all desire to go to heaven, we preach  about heaven, and we even pray that God’s will to be done in earth as it is in heaven.  If that is the case, look at this perspective. Instead of finding ways and means to secure our own happiness, we must labor for heavenly joy. If our pursuit is after the lost souls, the Lord will surely fill our hearts with heavenly joy, or in other words, excellent joy. 

 

(2)Extraordinary Joy (Not in safety, but in suffering) (Luke 6)

Luk_6:22-23 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.  Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

In his most illustrious discourse, ‘The Sermon on the Mount’, Jesus spelt out “The Beatitudes”, the outlook of a blessed Christian life.  He lists out different character  traits that  needs to be seen in a person to live a happy life.  He says, if we are hated, isolated, rejected, reproached and even defamed for Christ’s sake, we should rejoice and not weep.  In fact, he expects us to leap with joy!  This may sounds a bit odd and out of place.  But this is our Lord’s prescription.  People may hurt, abuse, ill-treat, reproach and even hate us to the core for the sake of Christ.  But we should develop a mindset of taking it all with joy.  Even the brother of Jesus, Apostle James in his  letter encourages, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations”.   This is not possible without the grace of God.   But we need to ask for it?  And our reactive joy is not in response to what we are facing, but in the knowledge that every beating, every abuse, every suffering will be rewarded in full measure in heaven!  Hallelujah! If our pursuit is reward in heaven, the Lord will surely fill our hearts with extra-ordinary joy. 

 

(3)Everlasting Joy (Not in earth, but in heaven) (Mat 25)

Mat_25:23  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

This is one of the Kingdom parables spoken by the Lord. It speaks of three servants.  Two were productive in multiplying the talents given to them, yet one was lazy and sceptical.  Those who were profitable for the master were rewarded with larger estates to manage. The indifferent one was punished.   The underlying lesson that we learn is that every child of God, be it a believer or a minister, has a gift or a talent given by God.  The Master expected his servants to not just be faithful, but also be fruitful.  Jesus said, If you abide in me and I abide in you, you will bear much fruit.  A servant, a child of God who does not waste the time, talent, resources, and abilities etc., given to him by God and utilizes the same effectively to bring forth much fruit/profit to God’s Kingdom is granted the privilege to enter into the joy of the Lord.   In one way, this may mean entering into divine peace, rest and an everlasting joy, after our race on earth is over, but in another way, this would imply a life in which we experience the joy of the Lord. Hallelujah! If our pursuit is laboring for Lord and producing more fruits, the Lord will surely fill our hearts with everlasting joy. 

 

Kingdom Joy

Rom 14:17:  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Joy is not just a gift that we get from our Lord.  Joy is part of God’s Kingdom.  Anybody who has received the gift of salvation and considers himself to be part of God’s Kingdom will experience this joy.  The Bible calls this ‘Joy in the Holy Ghost’.  The joy that this world gives is based on the happenings and is always momentary.  But the joy of the Holy Ghost is a joy that remains with us at all times.  If we have this joy, no peer pressure, no loss, no defeat, no abuse, no despair, no deficit will be able to shake us.   We shall not be moved!

However, many of us, even after being Christians for more than 10, 20 or even 30 years are unable to experience or abide in this joy.  All because of their failure to live in close communion with God, listen and follow his Word and relish the fellowship of Holy Ghost.

The reason Jesus could promise to give his own joy to his disciples is because of the fact that he had it in abundance.  The Bible says that he closely communed with his father, he lived by the Law and Prophets and He was full of Holy Ghost.

Therefore, Joy of the LORD is not just a sign but an unquestionable proof that we are in HIM and HE is in us.  

 

Journey to Joy

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus who promised to give the ‘fullness of His own joy’ to his disciples, to His own people looked forward to another joy that would follow the cross.  He took the path of cross to attain heavenly joy.  He endured shame to achieve heavenly joy.  

Even in our own lives, heavenly joy or Joy of Jesus can come to us when we develop a spirit of endurance, when we disregard the same.   We will not only enjoy heavenly joy, we will enjoy being in the throne of God.

May the Lord God fill you with excellent joy, extraordinary joy and everlasting joy.
