   TRUTH#2 : PATIENCE (Succumbed and the Surviving)

Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls

Jesus once told his followers, to not fear the ones who could only kill the body but not the soul, but fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body (Math 10:28)

Covid, Cancer, Cardiac arrest. Whatever be the disorder, they can only infect or affect our body which is nothing but a cloak, a tent in which we dwell. In health or in sickness, our bodies are prone for destruction. The effectiveness of human organs decline as we age. We are created that way.

But our Soul, the real person, the real me is not so. It is only this soul which changes its abode to heaven, when the body stops. A virus can damage our body, even collapse our organs, but has no power to touch our Souls. In the hospital bed, when a doctor affirms that he cannot save the patient, he is referring only to the physical being, not life per se. A person whose soul is already saved by the Lord steps into another phase, after death. 

A sudden death, a destructive disease may give birth to innumerable questions.  Like the grieving wife of Job, one may choose to curse God, doubt his faithfulness, suspect his goodness.  Impatience cost Saul his kingship, Israelites their promised land, Moses the privilege of leading his people into Canaan and Uzza his own life.  The Bible chronicles many such stories of people who lost their destiny due to their own impatience.   

Maybe your life boat is toppled after a bad news, a misfortune, a tragedy.  But be patient.  Don’t lament by drawing your own quick conclusions, assumptions, postulations.  Surrender and submit your life to God.  Let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect, wanting in nothing (James 1:4)

Be patient, be not a patient!
