TRUTH#5 PROMISE
1 Jn_2:25 And this is the promise
that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
What the succumbed have atttained, the
survivor should hold on.
Human mind, from time immemorial, has
always tried to understand and define things on a temporal or time-based
scale. For a man a day has 24 hours, a
week 7 days, a month 30 days, and an year 365 days. To him everything is finite.
Even his grandparents, his parents will be there
for a period and will be gone. What he
sees in tombstones is a name or a picture of someone with birth date and death
date inscribed? He does not know
anything that does not come under the confines of time and space. When one says
eternal, everlasting, ever living it is something which his intellect fails to
understand, imagine or accept.
Living forever. Yes, it may be sound incredible, but it is
true. It is the greatest gift of God to human life. Living forever in human body is not what God
meant. It would be impossible and
impracticable as the body is prone for destruction. Then what is that?
St.Francis of Assisi quotes, 'It is in dying that we are born to eternal
life'
Corrie Ten Doom Says, 'You know, eternal life does not start when we go to
heaven. It starts the moment you reach out to Jesus. He never turns His back on
anyone. And He is waiting for you.'
A born again believer may live for 20, 40,
60 and even 100 years. But in the
eternal perspective they count as nothing.
To him, life actually begins in death.
A Life with God. A life in a
place where is no tear, no pain, no disease, no weakness. Some may say, there is nothing called heaven.
That is because of their finite thinking.
But we have this PROMISE, we are called to hold on to it. As believers, we are called to eternally minded.
Eternal
life is Gift of Christ (Romans 6:23)
Eternal
life is Guarded by Christ (John
10:28)
Eternal
life is Groomed in Christ (Jud 1:21)
This eternal life is not something we
will gain after our death, it is something that we carry with us. It is something that we are supposed to hold
onto.
To hold to to what? Hold on to JESUS, that is it.
(Ends tomorrow)
