Raging Waves (5/14)
Composure
Isa_26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee
My heart really goes out for those in medical
fraternity, especially Duty Doctors, Chief Doctors, Nurses who are battling day
in and day out to save lives. Just
imagine, we get so disturbed even to hear the news of people dying due to lack of oxygen, of beds and proper medical attention. There are stories of those who have spent
all their money, made all the efforts to find the best hospitals but could not save
the dear ones. There are episodes of those who despite having resources could
not find a bed or oxygen leading to fatalities. The bereaved are shocked, shaken,
heartbroken They don't know whom to blame? They violently cry, lament, bemoan
over the incident.
In some places physicians are profusely lauded for their
selfless service in preserving lives. Yet
in some other places, they become the target of bereaved family's ire, they are
beaten black and blue. How sad is that? They are not God's to hold the lives of dying
Yet with all this, they don't lose their patience, composure
or attention. They may lose few lives,
but they have to fight to save the remaining.
Sadly, today newspapers are only carrying headlines of number of lives
lost. They should publish the list of
those who recovered even from an ICU.
Truly the frontline medicos are fighting this war risking their own
lives. How composed they must be?
The Bible says that God will keep the one in perfect
peace (a state of serenity and composure) whose mind is stayed on Him. If our mind is too focused on circumstances,
separation, death and potential threats we shall not have peace.
Jesus was asleep in a boat which was tossed up and down.
The disciples thought the end is near.
But Jesus did not think so. Since
His mind was stayed completely on God and God's plan, He knew well that no
storm, no wave, no danger however threatening they may seem, will not be able
to alter God's purposes. More than his
miracle doing power, I believe it was this sure assurance in JESUS that made
the 'storm calm'.
Has not Jesus given this peace to you (John
14:27). Let not your hearts be troubled!
a perfect peace
