Hearing they hear not..
3 lock downs over, 1 more has begun. Will there be 5,6,7 …??? . It is more than 50
days now. But there is more movement in
the roads, more engagement in the shops, more business in the stores. Has new normal come?
I do not know how the whole gamut of new normal is
going to be. But I have found one
thing. In the new normal, there is no bar for wine-boozers. Oops, I meant ban. But the ban
for worship-places
stands. New religiousness is being
promoted, I guess. Why worry about your
spirituality, just fill yourself with spirit (drink)?
Let me remind you of two classic observations,
responses view-points that we heard during this Corona season.
1.For the
Koyambedu calamity, the Government squarely
placed the blame on vendors for not
paying heed to their request (to close).
Their so-called defiance is paying rich dividends, albeit
negatively, in the exponential increase of numbers. Counting still…
2.To the utmost
delight of drinkers and also to fill its
empty coffers, Government decided to open the gateway for people to swim freely in the spirit. Petitions, protests, pleas, prayers for
reconsideration has gone into deaf
ears. Now the determination to
implement their so called 'policy decision' has brought …and continuing to
bring…plentiful returns in revenue. Will
cash turn into casualty? God
forbid. But who knows?
Government says, vendors hears not.
People say, Government hears not
And now when God speaks…do people actually pay heed?
(megaphone will roar..)
