Heartbroken
yet Hearkened…
Elijah, a dejected, defeated man responded
to God's still small voice. It looks as
if he knew that even when God said he would pass by, he cannot be found in earthquake, fire or even wind. Quite
interestingly and much intriguingly, the Bible says, that after all this
'dramatic' events, God spoke to him in a whispering voice.
To me it is really mind boggling. The dust of the wind, the aftershock of earthquake, the smoke of the fire would still be raging. And in the midst of all these, the voice of
God's came not as a thunderbolt, but as a still small voice comes calling.
Elijah's cave experience shows that as
humans we all will have our down times and we may have even have questions to
ask to God like Elijah did. These
questions are not unfamiliar to us. Even
we want to ask God many questions.
Whether we ask or not, we have many many questions in our heart as to
why this happened, why that happened, why it cannot be so, why should I alone
face this? etc., etc., Elijah was no
different when it comes to cave.
But remember, the same Elijah was taken up
in a chariot of fire. He did not meet
death.
Three facts
1.Elijah was disappointed and sought
answers from God for the calamity dangling over head. ~ Reality of man's
frailty!
2.God met Elijah and spoke to him in a
still small voice, in the background of wind, tremor and fire ~ God's mode of
communication !
3.Elijah's ears were sensitive and sharp
to catch the whisper of God amidst commotion ~ Servant of God's Spiritual
Sensitivity.
At all the times, let us be spiritually sensitive
to the voice of God. Disappointment will
not lead you to death.
The shepherd promises eternal life to the sheep
which hearkens his voice!
Ends…for now!
